Positive Dog Training in Richmond
What to expect:
Over the past 15 years I’ve worked with the rambunctious, the goofball, the obstinate, the lazy, the tiny terror, the scaredy-cat, the gentle giant, the perfect angel, and so much more! I’ve trained dogs for manners, fun, service, and minor to major behavior problems.
The first training session is most often done in your home (or on your property), but training can extend to parks or public areas – generally wherever the dog is experiencing difficulties or where additional skills can be practiced.
Many clients have a need for single sessions to answer so many questions that they can confidently take on themselves when I leave. In my experience, so much can be resolved in an hour through reassurance from a professional, experienced dog trainer. You can expect an hour long session with a history intake, Q&A, and lots of demos and step by step walk-throughs.
Other clients want and need multiple sessions for more complex problems or advanced training goals. We can discuss this at the end of the first session.
All training is force-free, positive reinforcement with a holistic and creative approach. We use a clicker or marker and reward/reinforcer to teach dogs to think and problem solve. Emphasis is placed on building the bond between dog and owner, and creating or reinforcing trust (particularly in stressful situations).
I always train with LOVE!
